Resume job match checker
Upload your resume and paste the job description. See your match score, the skills you already cover, what is missing, and the first five things to fix before you apply.
What this checker measures
It compares the resume you upload with the job description you paste. You get one overall match, then three parts: skills you share, keywords the posting leans on, and a light experience signal from years and seniority.
That is deliberately narrow. It tells you about overlap between two documents. It does not rank you inside Workday, Greenhouse, or Lever, and it does not judge your writing.
How to read the result
- 1Strong matches are named skills that appear in both texts. Keep those in bullets with a result attached.
- 2Missing or weak matches are skills the posting names that your resume never mentions. Add only the ones you can evidence.
- 3Experience, skills, and keyword scores show which part of the gap is vocabulary and which part is scope.
- 4Top 5 things to improve is the order to work in. Fix those five, then run the check again.
What to do after a low match
- 1Start with skills you already have under different words. If the posting says GraphQL and you wrote API queries, use their term in a real bullet.
- 2Move the matching roles up. A five-year overlap buried in role three does less than a shorter overlap in the first two bullets.
- 3Leave out skills you cannot defend. A higher score that you cannot talk through is a wasted interview.
- 4Then rewrite, or let FitMyCV do it. The job-link tailoring flow uses the same posting and your real experience.

Frequently asked questions
What does the match score mean?
It is a coverage score from your CV and the posting: named skills, posting keywords, and a light experience signal from years and seniority. Treat 75% and above as strong coverage, 50 to 75% as worth a tailoring pass, and below 50% as either a generic resume or a genuine stretch. It is not a prediction that you will get an interview.
Is this resume job match checker free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no usage limit. The whole check runs in your browser, and nothing is stored.
Does my resume get uploaded or stored?
The PDF is read in this tab. The file is never sent to a server. Close the tab and it is gone.
How is this different from the ATS resume checker?
The ATS resume checker is a single keyword-overlap score. This page splits the result into experience, skills, and keywords, lists strong versus missing skills, and gives you five things to improve. Use this when you want a fit readout. Use the ATS checker when you only need missing terms.
Should I add every missing skill to my resume?
Only the ones you can honestly evidence. Put each one inside a bullet that shows you used it and what happened. Claiming tools you have never used just moves the rejection to the interview.
What do experience, skills, and keyword scores measure?
Skills are named tools and methods we can read in both texts, such as React or project management. Keywords are the other terms the posting leans on. Experience looks for years, seniority words, and role phrases. If the posting never mentions years, that part does not drag the score down.
Does a high match guarantee an interview?
No. Coverage helps a recruiter find you. The bullets are what earn the call. Once the score looks healthy, spend the rest of your time putting a number on each claim.
